と言い放つが、これは（「ライトスタッフ」に倣った？）作り話で、原作 “The Astronaut Wives Club”は―
If John couldn't get his little lady to play ball and let the vice president come in and sit with her, maybe he wouldn't get to be the first American to orbit the Earth.
The six other astronauts backed up John, and John Glenn was still going to be the first American to orbit the Earth. When Johnson was told no, he hit the roof, but there was absolutely nothing he could do about it.
