何と言っても「人類、月に立つ」の白眉は地質学者リー・シルバー教授（扮するデヴィッド・クレノン）をフィーチャーした「ガリレオは正しかった」―
その 884～886
Part 10 ： Galileo Was Right （「ガリレオは正しかった アポロ15号」）は、アポロ15のデイヴ・スコットが右手のハンマーと左手の羽根を自由落下させ同時に着地する様（ガリレオの落体の法則 Galileo's law of falling bodies のデモンストレーション）を月から TV 中継したことが（スコットの言い回しは正確には "Mr Galileo was correct" ）そのタイトルになっている（←本来はガリレオに帰すべきじゃない apocryphal らしいが）―けれど、それは実のところ話のテーマじゃ全然なく、本筋はジェネシス・ロック Genesis Rock と名付けられる月の石（を見つけるに至る宇宙飛行士と地質学者の交流）にあります。（よって、切手スキャンダルなどには何も触れられない）
※ スコットは実験のアイデアをジョー・アレン（capcom）から得ている（"The basic idea was Joe Allen's."）
なので The hammer and feather fall side by side and hit the ground at virtually the same time. （Hammer and Feather - NASA History Division）するや、月面と地上（ヒューストン）で―
Scott : How about that !
Allen : How about that ! (Applause in Houston)
と（落体の法則どおり？）同時にドヤ顔して見せてるようですね。
Joe Allen の証言（ Apollo 15 Preliminary Science Report, Summary of Scientific Results）―
During the final minutes of the third extravehicular activity, a short demonstration experiment was conducted. A heavy object (a 1.32-kg aluminum geological hammer) and a light object (a 0.03-kg [0.003 か 0.0003 の誤りか？] falcon feather) were released simultaneously from approximately the same height (approximately 1.6 m) and were allowed to fall to the surface. Within the accuracy of the simultaneous release, the objects were observed to undergo the same acceleration and strike the lunar surface simultaneously, which was a result predicted by well-established theory, but a result nonetheless reassuring considering both the number of viewers that witnessed the experiment and the fact that the homeward journey was based critically on the validity of the particular theory being tested.
余談
空気抵抗のない月面でハンマーと同時に（1.3秒）落下した羽根は、うっかりアーウィンが踏みつけ月の砂に紛れて行方不明になった―後世それが発見され、月に謎の生命体が存在する物証にされたりはしないかと危ぶんだとか。

羽根は隼（ファルコン）のもので LM の Falcon に因む―クルーがフライト前（15 January 1971）に Air Force Academy で撮った写真に（アカデミーのマスコットだった）隼も一緒（スコットの左手）に写っていて、その（個体とは特定できないが）羽根を失敬したらしい。（So that was indeed, a falcon feather from an Air Force Academy bird.―本人談）
とすると、むしろ月着陸船のファルコンが Air Force Academy のマスコット（隼）に因んでいようか。 （司令船のエンデバー Endeavour はキャプテン・クックから） （その2943参照）

スコット（CDR）、ウォーデン（CMP）、アーウィン（LMP）は 3 人とも空軍で、月からファルコンを打ち上げる際、Air Force Song（Off We Go, Into The Wild Blue Yonder）のテープ演奏で景気付けしており、案外これが「ライトスタッフ」のラスト（フェイス７ の打ち上げ）シーンのヒントになった気がしないでもない。（その3027参照）
