フリーダム７のリフトオフ、心配してシェパード邸を訪ねる他の 6 人をルイーズは（Well, as much as I appreciate the gesture, I'm fine. と）すげなく断る。
トゥルーディが（今更の言い回しで）諭すように―
Do you know the difference between a redstone rocket and a nuclear missile ? Nothing. Alan is sitting on the world's biggest firecracker and they're about to light the match, so I really wouldn't turn up my nose at a little human kindness right now.
ルイーズは思いやりを示したいのだったらプライバシーを尊重して（If you want to be kind You'll respect my privacy. Thank you.）とドアを閉ざすのである。
これが「ライトスタッフ」ではシェパード邸にトゥルーディ、ベティ、アニー、リーンら奥方が勢ぞろいしてるらしく（それは映画上の演出にしても―スクリプト INSIDE SMALL HOUSE WITH LOUISE SHEPARD AND OTHER WIVES. HER DAUGHTER IS AT THE WINDOW.）原作「「ザ・ライト・スタッフ」でも―
子供たちの他に、オハイオから出て来て数日前から滞在している彼女の両親がいた。他の宇宙飛行士の細君も何人か来ていた。（In addition to the children, there were her parents, who had come from Ohio and had been here for days. A few of the other wives had arrived.）
となっていて、やはりルイーズが他の 6人を全てシャットアウトしていたようには記していない。
まあ、The Astronaut Wives Club の描き方のほうが何となくリアリティを感じさせはする―いささかドラマチック（TV 的）なリアリティなれど。（リーンいわく "Every segment of the show is fiction ! Every segment !" なんだし）
原作 "The Astronaut Wives Club"（Lily Koppel）は―
Louise was getting dressed. She said very calmly, "Now, girls, your father is going up in a Redstone rocket into space today." Then she led Julie and Alice downstairs, where Louise's parents, who had come to keep her company for the launch, were already making breakfast. Grandparents, mother, and daughters sat at the dining room table and held hands in a group prayer. The Life photographer had his perfect family portrait.
と、ルイーズと両親、幼い娘（Julie and Alice）だけ、そしてライフ誌のカメラマン。
TVドラマは二人の娘とライフ誌の記者（a Life magazine reporter,the only person she'd allow in her presence that afternoon.）―席を外そうとするがルイーズに（無言で腕をつかまれ）引き留められるというふうに描く。 （←まだ Ep.1 をざっと見ただけの段階で決めつけるのはナンですけど、どうやら The Astronaut Wives Club は soap opera／melodrama 仕立てになってるようで）
この架空の a Life magazine reporter（役名 Max Kaplan）に該当する a real-life LIFE reporter は Loudon Wainwright Jr. 、「ライトスタッフ」でも（ウェインライトと思しき）ライフ誌の記者が当たり前のように部屋に入り込んでいたけども、原作「ザ・ライト・スタッフ」は違っておりまして―
