原作は（誰ということもなく）単に場内アナウンス―
楽団が演奏を開始した。途端に場内の照明は暗くなり、スポットライトがステージをさぐりあて、ショーがはじまる。大きな威勢のいい声が、拡声機から流れてくる。「レディーズ・アンド・ジェントルメン…今日の特別のお客さんのために、われわれの新しい素晴しい隣人のために…御紹介します…ミス・サリー・ランド、どうぞ」 [中公文庫]
a band struck up and the houselights dimmed and a spotlight searched out the stage and a show began and a mighty hearty voice boomed out over the p.a. system: "Ladies and gentlemen… in honor of our mighty special guests and mighty fine new neighbors, we are proud to present… Miss Sally Rand!"（The Right Stuff）
なので、テキサススタイルのバーベキューパーティにおけるジョンソンは 100％ 架空の(たぶん、MSC のヒューストン誘致に政治力のあったテキサス丸出しの Albert Thomas を合体させた)フェイクですね。
