The Kaufman movie is a classic, but an extremely specific one that left room for lots of other approaches in terms of focus and tone. The TV show is almost defiantly generic in every way. It doesn’t entirely screw the pooch, to use another bit of test-pilot lingo that Wolfe’s book popularized. But nor does it seem interested in going higher, farther, or faster than any version of this story we’ve seen so often before.
と、TV シリーズは要するに（名作「ライトスタッフ」に比して―なんてさえ口幅ったいが）面白くも何ともない凡庸な代物と評していて、それはシーズン 2 が（当然の帰結のように）中止になったことからも真っ当な意見だと分かる―わたしは見てないけども見なくたって分かる。（その3309～3310参照）
その一つに見てないのに気に入らない脚色―実はパイロットだったトゥルーディ（その3176参照）がジェリー･コッブ（その3159参照）と絡むエピソード、このドキュメンタリーめかした作りは如何にも安直で稚拙に感じるんですよ、わたしの目には。（見てないけども）
単に The Astronaut Wives Club (その3177参照)の薄～い使い回しに思えますから。
もとネタはトゥルーディが（離婚した後）レディースのエアレース Powder Puff Derby で飛んだ話ですね。
