Stand-up EVA のシーンでのスコットのセリフ―
オーケー、ハッチが完全に開いたぞ さぁて、地質学室の皆に喜んでもらえるような報告ができるかな 今ハッチから頭を出す ホ～凄い眺めだ 凄いぞ あぁ教授に見せたいよ 北の方向にクレーターが見える プルトン、イカルス、チェーンだ カメラを出した 12 時の方向から撮っていこう ハドリー山の尾根はなだらかで、とがった山頂も大きな岩も何も見当たらない ハハッ 望遠レンズが役に立ってるよ （後略）

Scott：Okay, overhead hatch is open and latched.
Scott：Oh boy, what a view.

Scott：The tops of the mountains are rounded off. There are no sharp jagged peaks or no large boulders apparent anywhere.
などがあるものの（あちこちの箇所がまとめて脚色されてるのか）ぴったり合致してはいない―これに続く（同時になされたかのように描かれている）ウォーデンとヘナイズのやりとり（その3247参照）に至っては実際には大きな時差があるし。 （←その事実を知らなくとも何となく演出っぽい違和感がある）
スコットによると望遠レンズ telephoto lens（Zeiss 500-mm Tele-Tessar lens）の持ち込みは苦労して（推進剤 propellant と交換してまで）認めさせており（So we spent a lot of time and energy justifying the 500-mm lens. And the final trade-off was in abort propellant.）、それを描いた（スレイトンを大いに呆れさせる）シーン―
スコ 「実は教授が凄くいいレーキを考えてくれてさ マントルロックの上の小石を採集するのに凄い威力を発揮するんだ」（There's this neat rake that the professor devised.
It would help us get a comprehensive suite of pebble-sized rocks in the regolith.）

スコ 「あと望遠レンズをもう一つ」（And we'd like another telephoto lens.）
スレ 「…もう重量追加は無理だと知ってるだろ」（We're at our weight limit.You know that.）
スコ 「いい手がある ランデブーを短縮すれば非常用の推進剤が余るだろ」（I've thought of that.With the new, shorter rendezvous maybe we could trade some abort propellant.）
スレ 「推進剤を捨てるのか… レーキと交換に？」（Abort propellant? For a rake?）
スコ 「レーキと、（嬉しそうに） 望 遠 レ ン ズ 」（A rake and a lens.）
スレ 「あぁ…はぁ…」 （←もはや言葉にならない）
