卓上の水差しは実際は途中で回され各自コップで飲み、シェパードなど左隣のシラーに水を注いでやる―二人は海軍仲間にしても（海軍・空軍、そして海兵隊のグレンを含む）７人皆が和気藹々で銘々のコメントに笑いの渦、グレンの（妙に場馴れた）弁が際立っているのはそのとおりだけれど、他の６人が訥弁なんて印象はなく、あくまで相対的に（異様に饒舌なグレンに比べて）口数が少ないだけ。
「ライトスタッフ」では―
奥さんやお子さんは何とおっしゃってますか I'd like to know whether your wives and children had anything to say about this. （原作 The first reporter who raised his hand wanted to know from each of them whether his wife and children had "had anything to say about this." 最初に手を挙げた記者は、奥さんと子供が「このことについてどう言ったか」ということを一人一人話してくれと求めた）
との質問が先ずスレイトンに振られ―
喜んでます Mine think it's fine.
次いで梯子（脚立）の上のレッチワース（原作 Some of them were up on a ladder that was propped against the wall under one of the huge lights. 壁の大きな照明の下に立てかけたはしごに登っているものも何人かいた）がシラーを指名し―
家族は賛成です They're all for it.
と（あのシラーが情けないほど）おずおずと返答するように（脚色して）描く。
実際の記者会見（Q＆A）は先ずスレイトンではなく（たぶん単に右端からの順で）カーペンターに―
Q ： I would like to ask Lieutenant Carpenter if his wife had anything to say about this, and/or his four children？
と質問がなされ―
カ ： They are all as enthusiastic about the program as I am.
Q ： How about the others？ Same question.
次に（順に）隣のクーパーが―
ク ： Yes,mine have. Mine are very enthusiastic also. I can answer the same for myself.
そしてグレンの―
グ ： Yes I don't think any of us could go on with something like this if we didn't have pretty good backing at home～ a hundred percent.
なる（あの鼻持ちならない） "100 パー" スピーチに続くのである。
