連絡官のセリフ―
Finally showed up.（お出ましだ）
The one we had been waiting for, with the big engine.（デカいエンジンの新型機）
Boy, if we'd only had one of those a few years back.（数年前にこれがあればな）
The bad news is the entire program's probably going to be scrapped.（残念ながら開発計画もこれで最後だ）
From now on, the astronaut boys in Houston have got the only ticket.（今後の資金はすべてヒューストンへ）
この解釈（意訳）は連絡官のギャグ “No bucks, no Buck Rodgers.”（Funding. That’s what makes your ships go up ―その2997参照）につながる（それはそれで意味の通る）分かりやすい字幕ではあるけれど、連絡官の言う the only ticket とは原作が it was pretty obvious that there would be no American military space voyagers. とするように宇宙飛行士になる切符であり、エドワーズ（イェーガーの ARPS）には与えられなかった宇宙への搭乗チケットであって（確かに基本的には予算の問題であるにしても）特に資金を云々したものではない。
原作に―
These boys were coming through Chuck Yeager's prep school so they could get a ticket to Houston.（若いパイロットたちは、ヒューストン行きの切符を手に入れようとして、チャック・イエーガーの予備校にかよったのだ）
とあるが、その模様が実はスクリプトにはイェーガーの ARPS シーンに（NF 104 finally showed up の直前に）ちゃんと描かれていて、グレンのフレンドシップ７の後―
CUT TO: EDWARDS CLASSROOM
YEAGER IS AT A BLACKBOARD in a classroom. He’s teaching a class.

そして、外に出たイェーガーに連絡官がNF 104 を見ながら―

という（その時のイェーガーのポジション the commandant of ARPS を明確にした）展開。
最終的に ARPS は正しく削除されタイトになって（あれで？）おります。（その2982参照）
