改訂版訳―
「マスコミだって？ フラッシュをポンポンたいて這いずり回ってる、あの害虫どものことか？」
としたものの、この原文には（想像されたとおり）不備・不足があるようで。
そもそもイェーガーのセリフは―
Coverage？ You mean them root weevils that crawl around popping cameras？
と（あちこちのネットで）記され、わたしもこれに基づき（文法上どうのこうのと）つついたけれど、やはり正確ではなかった（少なくとも不十分）。
実際よく聴いてみても―
"Coverage？ Oh, you mean them root weevils that crawl around popping off cameras in your face？"
と言ってるようで、これだと原作のニュアンス within inches of their faces を含むし、文意を誤解する余地もなさそう。 （レンタル字幕「顔の前でフラッシュをたく野郎どもか」はこの訳出と推測できる）
むろん、これを受けて連絡官が―
"Those root weevils write history."
と（原作の喩えどおりカメラマンが歴史を書くかのような）セリフを言うちぐはぐさに変わりはないが。 （むしろ、歴史を書く coverage を原作では photographers の喩えである root weevils になぞらえるから辻褄の合わない「つぎはぎ細工」になっていると言うべきか）
二人のやりとり（連絡官がイェーガーにマスコミ受けが大事だと諭す）―
連："You need something more than speed records in this day and age. You need coverage."
イ："Coverage？ Oh, you mean them root weevils that crawl around popping off cameras in your face？"
連："Those root weevils write history."
イ："Well, let them write the damn history and let the pilots fly the airplanes."

カウフマンは（coverage ではなく）press と呼んで、喩えも root weevils ではなく little beggars、原作（同じ個所）の―
