結局 この場面転換はイェーガーがボディチェックする F-104（NF-104）の暗い排気口（後方のアップ）からヒューストン・コロシアム入場口（トンネル）への暗転に（より巧みに、あざとく）変更されていて―

 

Bright glare from the plane, BLEACHING WHITE THEN, SUDDEN BLACKNESS.

 

THEY BURST INTO THE HOUSTON COLISEUM where thousands of people mill around and stare down at them from the stands.

 

ところが、このスクリプトに INT – HOUSTON ASTRODOME と記してあって、やはり（ファーストチョイス的には）アストロドームで撮影するつもりだったのかと思い当たる。（憶測ですけど）

 

ひょっとしたら、スクリプトどおり本当にアストロドームで撮った（部分がある）可能性も全くのゼロではないにしても、少なくともオフィシャルには（両論併記的にも）伝えられていない。

 

再確認しておくと、実際のバーベキューパーティはヒューストン・コロシアムで催され、「ライトスタッフ」では（アストロドームではなく）カウパレス Cow Palace（サンフランシスコ）で撮影されている―それなのに、なぜかアストロドーム Astrodome という事実誤認の名が（やたらと）目に付くのである。

 

例えば― an enormous barbecue inside theAstrodome（1982）　the Astrodome party（1983）　Sally Rand's dance in the Houston Astrodome（1983）　in the Astrodome during the "feather dancer" scene（2007）　the surreal scene in the Astrodome（2011）　in the Houston Astrodome at a Texas barbecue（2012）　a reception at the Houston Astrodome（2014）　A scene from the movie The Right Stuff depicting that LBJ visit to the Astrodome（2014）　a giant barbecue in the Astrodome（2018）… と（ウンザリさせられるほど）キリがない。

 

明確に撮影はカウパレスだが実際の会場はアストロドームと完全な勘違いしている例―

 

the Cow Palace stood in for the Astrodomein the movie The Right Stuff.（2006）

 

In 1982, the Cow Palace doubled for the Houston Astrodome in "The Right Stuff"（2008）

 

He [Kaufman] used the Cow Palace to simulate the Houston Astrodome where the astronauts were first introduced.（2008）

 

逆に撮影はアストロドームだが実際は別の会場と主張している例―

 

the bar-b-que to welcome the astronauts to Houston, filmed inside the Astrodome. This was one deviation from fact because the Dome was not yet completed so the actual event took place elsewhere. （geocaching　2009）

 

てなふうに、今もって Astrodome が好き勝手に独り歩き（跋扈）しているのは不可解としか…
