As far as church goes... I attend regularly.

或いは "No bucks, no Buck Rogers." のネタもとかとも思わせるシラーの発言―

I think I can answer that simply by saying that all of us in this room have probably read of the Buck Rogers, Flash Gordon, Jules Verne routine. We were interested in reading these things and obviously we had intentions of following something like this in our lifetimes. I will readily admit that I didn't think of this. But in flying aircraft…

彼（liaison man）こそが、もう一人の狂言回しと言ってよい存在で、リドリーがイェーガー専属の狂言回しであった色合いが強いのに比べ、この連絡官は映画全体の狂言回し役に他なりません。
ロケットを飛ばすものは何か―それは資金（funding）だ、と彼は言い放つ。
No bucks,no Buck Rogers. 「金がヒーローを作る」
全体の狂言回しとしての連絡官がパンチョの店でイェーガーとリドリーに、そして別のテーブルのホットドッグやグリソムらに向かって宣う、この印象深いコピーは映画全体のキーワードになってます。
マーキュリー７がカプセルに窓やハッチを付けろと科学者に要求するシーンで、ガス・グリソムが（効果的にも）したり顔でこのセリフを言うし、イェーガーと連絡官が NF‐104 を見るシーンでは、自分たちのプログラムは終わって（scrapped）、これから資金はヒューストンの宇宙飛行士に向けられる（got the only ticket）と示唆します―bucks のないイェーガーは、もはや Buck Rogers にはなれないとばかりに。（その3103 参照）
