ジャッキー・コクランは「ライトスタッフ」には登場しないが、エドワーズ（ミューロック）でのメインキャスト的なパンチョ・バーンズはスクリプトに―
A small group standing ALONE in the vast desert as the body is lowered into its grave.
YEAGER is there, and others we will soon meet: SLICK. PANCHO. RIDLEY. And a GLAMOROUS WOMAN.
とあるとおり、冒頭 X-1 で墜落死したパイロットの葬儀から（グレニスと並んで）顔を見せる。
続くパンチョの店での姿は―
PANCHO BARNES herself is behind the bar wearing her flight jacket, jodhpurs and riding boots. She’s forty and speaks with a vulcanized tongue:
と、原作の She also shocked the pants off them with her vulcanized tongue. （彼女はまたその錬えられた舌で、彼らの度肝をぬいた。）に倣う。
最終形態では使われてないシーン・セリフがスクリプトには多々あって、例えばイェーガーが音速突破した後、パンチョの店―
INT - PANCHO'S - DUSK
LIASON MAN looks frustrated and bewildered as across the room Yeager enters with Ridley. Glennis is already at the bar smiling her sexy smile. Pancho is carrying out a steaming platter.
PANCHO
Steak ?
GLENNIS (sexily)
With all the trimmin’s.
PANCHO
Tell me, Yeager, you miserable bastard, how’s it feel to be the fastest peckerwood alive ?
YEAGER
Waal, I’ll tell yew, Pancho – feels just about right…. My ears didn’t fall off neither. (to Glennis) I punched a hole in the sky…with your name on it.
イェーガーは X-1 に "Glamorous Glennis" と描いていたこと（＝ with your name on it）をシャレてるのだけれど、これが NF-104 での―
"Think I see a plane over here with my name on it."（おれの飛行機が待っている）（その3108 参照）
の（カウフマンお得意の）前フリで巧みに呼応してるのは明らか―それでも使わずに惜しげもなく削ってるんですよ、勿体ないことに。
CUT TO: EXT - EDWARDS AFB - DAY ( October 14, 1947 )
イェーガーがグレニスに送られて到着すると、リドリーが X-1 の機首（右側）に “魅惑のグレニス” と名入れしている―
Ridley’s up on the side of the X-1 just pulling the stencil off an inscription on the plane. It reads: GLAMOROUS GLENNIS
この（一瞬の）ショットが I punched a hole in the sky…with your name on it. を使っていれば有意味に生きてきて、あの（NF-104 に至り） Think I see a plane over here with my name on it. の決めゼリフに（より一層の）妙趣を加味する…
なのに、あえてカウフマンが使わなかったのは（時間短縮のための強制削除にしても）ちょっと面白すぎと言うか、ヘタすりゃ笑えるギャグになってしまうからと感じないでもない―あくまでイェーガーの「おれの飛行機が待っている」は 100％（トリハダものの）霊妙なシーンとして（その3026 参照）提示したくて。
でなきゃ、とうてい純正ライトスタッフ・ファン諸兄も納得されまいから―でしょ？
